Years ago, SUGO founder Kevin Chu went to Guilin on one of his adventure cycling trips and after returning, he envisioned that one day he would create a product using design elements inspired by this stunning landscape. LED lights are embedded into grooves on the top of a rectangular steel base. Laser sliced acrylic panels (The SUGO team calls them Hills), which come in a variety of textures and finishes, can be placed freely into these grooves. Once the lamp is switched on the light is absorbed vertically into the laser pantograph lines of the acrylic hills mimicking a glowing mountain Landscape/Lampscape. The GUILIN LAMPSCAPE turns you into a creator by enabling you to invent your own desired compositions. Since the acrylic hills can easily be interchanged and exchanged, new panels can be designed for future collections. The Lampscape is not a geometric static object, but a transformable entity akin to the very essence of nature from which it derives its inspiration. All SUGO creations are adapted with a special photocatalytic technology that can eliminate virus, bacteria and pollution for a minimum of 5 years activated only with natural light and moving air. Tested and endorsed by NASA and considered the most powerful version in the world.

Kevin is also the founder and director ofCOC design based in Hong Kong and Italy and was educated in Architectural Association and Bartlett School of Architecture in London under the world-renown architect Peter Cook and Marcos Cruz and was the sole recipient of the Bartlett Archigram Design Award in 2001 while Giulia, who hails from the Abruzzo region of Italy has extensive directorial experience working with the Italian/China DesignEducation industry. Many of Kevin’s creations have won international awards including German Design Award, Reddot Design Award, IDA Los Angeles, A DesignAward Italy, Architizer USA, China Red Star Award, Chicago Athenaeum Award, Perspective Award Hong Kong to name a few as well as been published in DesignBoom, DesignMilk, Home Journal, Design 360, IDEAT magazine, Terraform magazine, Perspective Magazine, Home Italia, Architectural Digest, Architizer and many more while Giulia has been the vital muse and idea “donator” in some of the most significant collection in the company.
